Le Dr Nathalie GARÇON, spécialiste des adjuvants pour GlaxoSmithKline en 2002 :

« En réalité, le seul adjuvant [aluminique] autorisé pour usage humain, est le plus empirique. Personne ne sait comment il fonctionne, personne ne connaît sa biodistribution. DR. GARCON : Actually, the adjuvant, the only one that is licensed for human use, is the one which is the most empirical. I mean, nobody knows how it works, nobody knows the biodistribution. I mean, it has really not much known about this one. It’s for the new one for which, I agree, you have to attempt for better characterization. Actually I believe that if alum * was coming now, it won’t be accepted.

Alum was the major adjuvant used to increase the efficacy of vaccines, and has been used since the 1920s.[19] But it has been almost completely replaced by aluminium hydroxide and aluminium phosphate in commercial vaccines.[20]
