All seven charges regarding the former head of the International Monetary Fund’s alleged assault of Nafissatou Diallo are set to be dismissed in a hearing on Tuesday at New York supreme court.

Miss Diallo, 33, maintains Mr Strauss-Kahn, 62, tried to rape her, before forcing her to perform a sex act, when she arrived to clean his room at the Sofitel on May 14.

But she was told by Manhattan prosecutors at a 30-second meeting last night : “We’re going to dismiss the case. You have lied to us repeatedly. We can’t win”.

In a court filing, prosecutors said DNA evidence confirmed there had been a sexual act between the pair, and that this still appeared "consistent with a non-consensual encounter"

However, seven weeks after first disclosing inconsistencies in Miss Diallo’s account of the incident and back story, they said she had “not been truthful on matters great and small”.
